Tough Ideas made Easy and go down Smooth

For anyone about to start University this is a must have primer. Levitin writes in such an easy going way that you can see him smiling as he provides examples to explain hard ideas in a simple, clear manner. If you find stats and research methods confusing or daunting this is for you. At the same time, as consumer of information everyone of us should be acquainted with the ideas and insights Levitin provides. We would be less likely to fall for the poor analysis and down-right nonsense that characterizes so much of the information we consume today. Who knows... if we up our game, maybe journalists/pundits/bloggers will be forced to up theirs!

An outstanding overview of critical thinking. A (relatively) short read but it does get the brain cells cranked up. You can't just breeze through it; you have to think and that's what makes it great.

Outstanding book on critical thinking

This is an outstanding book on critical thinking and applying statistics to everyday life. I think this should be required reading for high school students. It would be interesting if our culture was more encouraging of critical thinking, rather than believing everything we read or hear in the news or social media.

AMAZING... How can this be sooooo accurate?

This book will make everyone think you are psychic. The first book is awesome too... Know the Name Know the Person. Simply amazing how accurate the information is. You can know so much about a person based just on their first name. As good as astrology or numerology but you don't have to know personal information to know someone's basic personality. I highly recommend this book. Helps me get along with others better. My first vowel is an A which means I get right down to business, no chit-chat. This book explains why I offend those with first vowel E .... E's need personal contact before getting to business or they are offended. So when dealing with a person with the first vowel of E, I need to first ask how they are, how's the family, etc. But being a first vowel A, I prefer to get right down to business but will chit-chat if I have to. Another good tip... Never talk behind the back of a person with first vowel O. They will always find out and never forgive you.

Dr. Robin Smith is a licensed psychologist, television personality and author, who appears regularly as an expert for The Oprah Winfrey Show. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Smith teaches as an adjunct professor at Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. She lives in Philadelphia.

A good book

I'm actually a little embarrassed to admit that I bought this book.

Still not married :( but working on it :)

I found the book a little biased at times (men actually have feelings/insecurites/issues too) but overall I think that the priciples and information found within would benefit anyone. Besides, in many scenarios, just think of them in reverse if you're a guy reading this and voila - it becomes applicable!

To those who commented about the author being divorced or whatever - consider that it's possible for someone to advise without necessarily leading the way -eg. a priest giving counsel to a couple about a marriage.

I recommend the book to anyone - just don't go out and commence some radical "things have got to change" strategy with your SO - internalize and take it one step at a time.

PS. I agree with the critics who are tired of the "Oprah" "Dr. Phil" miracle cure tone of many of these books - but still, ignore the urge to throw the book down and start an Anti-phil movement. The book can inform if you're willing to ignore that

New is better than old.

What a good buy! My old atlas was at least 35 years old and so far out of date, that I could hardly find what I wanted in it. This new one has everything that I want and need and it is no trouble to look up countries/cities. The grandkids like it because it has all the 'new' countries and they use it for their reports at school. Maybe I just waited until they all were of an age to use it to the best of their abilities. I love it too!!!
