WONDERFUL!

I just finished Second Sight and like the other reviewers I could not put it down. The author creates a world combining history and mythology. Hated to see the book end and cannot wait for the next installment.

Just finished reading Second Birth and Second Sight for the "second" time. These readings were as good or better than the first time. I couldn't believe how much more there was to appreciate. I would highly recommend these books to anyone who enjoys a well developed story and characters.

An Inspiring and Beautifully Crafted Adventure

I'm basking in the afterglow of completing the final pages of J F Althouse's novel: "Second Birth".
In scouring my bookshelves and memory, I can't find another novel that I've enjoyed this much!
Having read Techno-Thriller novels since Tom Clancy's "Hunt for Red October" came out, and also action/adventure/fantasy novels typified by the Clive Cussler "Dirk Pitt" series, I submit to you that Mr. Althouse's work deserves to be considered on the same world stage with the writing of those two gentlemen.
Althouse writes on a large canvas, and pulls from a palette that is fresh, intelligent and creative.
He has created inspiring characters that you will care for, worry about and cheer on.
He has created a world history that is rare and unique, and possibly in some ways more accurate than the world history that we've been taught.
He has created a bold adventure that is every bit as awesome as those of Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" and "Hobbit".
If you are looking for a wonderful adventure, I encourage you to read "Second Birth" but first read it's predecessor: "Second Sight". I was delighted with them!

Fantastic Adventure

I couldn't wait for Second Birth to come out after having read Second Sight. It took a while for it to be completed, so I read Second Sight again (because it was great). Second Birth is just as fantastic. The characters are engaging and... just cool. They're characters that you end up caring about and really want to know what happens to them. Just like the first book, the sequel has fancy technology mixed with intriguing theories about past cultures on earth and how they relate to modern culture. I hope the next book doesn't take as long to come out as this one - I want to know what happens next.
